Sally Handcock is a Physiotherapist at Total Physiotherapy Manly Vale in Sydney’s Northern Beaches with expertise in musculoskeletal physiotherapy, sports physiotherapy, lower limb rehabilitation, dance-related injuries and exercise-based rehabilitation. Her areas of expertise include:
• Lower limb injuries and rehabilitation
• Sports injuries and return-to-sport rehabilitation
• Dance and ballet-related injuries
• Lower back and neck pain
• Post-operative rehabilitation
• Osteoarthritis and musculoskeletal conditions
Sally completed a Bachelor of Exercise and Sports Science at the Australian Catholic University followed by a Master of Physiotherapy at the University of Sydney. She is also a Certified GLA:D® (Good Life with osteoArthritis: Denmark) clinician providing evidence-based management for osteoarthritis and musculoskeletal conditions.
Sally has further developed her clinical experience through a placement with Manly United Football Club, where she was involved in strength and conditioning, sports rehabilitation and return-to-sport management for athletes. As a former dancer, she has a unique understanding of the physical demands of dance training and performance.
Her evidence-based treatment approach combines comprehensive assessment, hands-on manual therapy and exercise rehabilitation to help identify the underlying cause of injury and guide recovery. She works with active adults, adolescent athletes, dancers and post-surgical patients to reduce pain, restore movement and safely return to everyday activities while helping to minimise the risk of future injury. Sally commonly sees patients for:
• Lower limb injuries, including hip, knee, ankle and foot conditions affecting mobility, strength and everyday function.
• Sports injuries, including acute muscle and ligament injuries, overuse injuries, running-related injuries and return-to-sport rehabilitation.
• Dance and ballet-related injuries, including assessment, rehabilitation and return-to-performance planning.
• Pointe assessments for developing ballet dancers, providing guidance around strength, mobility, control and readiness for progression to pointe work.
• Lower back and neck pain, spinal dysfunction and movement-related musculoskeletal conditions affecting work, sport and daily activities.
• Osteoarthritis management and musculoskeletal conditions using evidence-based exercise and rehabilitation strategies.
• Post-operative rehabilitation and exercise-based rehabilitation to restore strength, movement and confidence following injury or surgery.
Outside the clinic, Sally enjoys watching F1, skiing and maintaining a strong connection to dance and movement, giving her a genuine understanding of the physical demands of sport, rehabilitation and maintaining an active lifestyle.
