Margo Joyner is an experienced Women’s Health, Pregnancy and Postnatal Physiotherapist at Total Physiotherapy Manly Vale in Sydney’s Northern Beaches, supporting women through pregnancy, recovery after birth, pelvic health concerns and return to exercise.
With more than 30 years of clinical experience, including over 22 years in women’s health and clinical Pilates, she works primarily with women experiencing:
• Pregnancy-related musculoskeletal pain
• Pelvic floor dysfunction
• Pelvic health concerns
• Postnatal pelvic floor assessment and rehabilitation
• Movement dysfunction and exercise-related concerns
Margo completed a Bachelor of Applied Science (Physiotherapy) at Cumberland College of Health Sciences and is a member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA).
She works primarily with women during pregnancy and after birth, supporting them through the associated physical changes and stages of recovery. She understands the impact these changes can have on daily life and aims to help women improve strength, confidence and movement, allowing them to return to exercise, caring for their family, work and the activities they enjoy.
Margo’s evidence-based treatment approach begins with a comprehensive assessment to understand how each person’s body is moving and responding to change. She combines education, hands-on physiotherapy, movement analysis and individualised exercise programs to improve movement, restore function and build confidence. Margo commonly sees patients for:
• Pregnancy physiotherapy, including pregnancy-related musculoskeletal pain, movement assessment, exercise prescription and preparation for birth.
• Postnatal physiotherapy, including recovery after childbirth, abdominal and pelvic floor rehabilitation, postnatal exercise and guidance for a safe return to exercise.
• Women’s pelvic health, including pelvic floor dysfunction, pelvic pain and other pelvic health concerns affecting movement, comfort and quality of life.
• Clinical Pilates, movement analysis and exercise rehabilitation to improve strength, mobility, posture and long-term function.
Margo’s background in dance, particularly ballet, has shaped her understanding of movement, body awareness and rehabilitation, which she incorporates into her physiotherapy practice.
Outside the clinic, Margo enjoys ballet, multi-day bushwalking, reading, rock climbing, swimming and surfing. She also enjoys gym-based strength training and values movement as an important part of maintaining health, strength and an active lifestyle.
