Alex is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist at Total Physiotherapy Manly Vale in Sydney’s Northern Beaches. With experience in exercise rehabilitation and chronic disease management, he works with patients to improve strength, mobility, balance and confidence, helping them maintain independence and improve their quality of life. Alex’s areas of expertise include:

• Strength and conditioning
• Functional rehabilitation
• Return-to-work assessments

Alex completed a Bachelor of Clinical Exercise Physiology and is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist and member of Exercise & Sports Science Australia (ESSA).

As an Exercise Physiologist, Alex works with people of all ages, with a particular focus on adults living with chronic health conditions including diabetes, osteoporosis and musculoskeletal injuries. He is passionate about helping people improve their confidence, physical function and independence through individualised exercise programs tailored to their goals and abilities.

Alex’s evidence-based treatment approach combines comprehensive assessment with personalised exercise prescription to improve strength, mobility, balance and physical function. His assessments include repetition maximum (RM) strength testing, functional balance assessments, strength testing and return-to-work tolerance assessments to guide rehabilitation, monitor progress and support long-term health outcomes. Alex commonly sees patients for:

• Osteoporosis and osteopenia, helping improve bone health, strength, balance and reduce the risk of falls.

• Chronic pain management, using targeted exercise rehabilitation to improve movement, reduce pain and increase confidence with everyday activities.

• Balance and mobility concerns, helping older adults improve stability, reduce falls risk and maintain independence.

• Strength and functional rehabilitation, supporting patients to improve strength, mobility and overall physical function through tailored exercise programs.

• Return-to-work rehabilitation, including functional capacity and tolerance assessments to support a safe and successful return to employment.

Outside the clinic, Alex has participated in distance running and enjoys a wide variety of sports, including tennis, cricket and soccer and maintains a regular strength training program. Having experienced numerous sporting injuries himself, Alex understands the challenges of injury, rehabilitation and recovery, allowing him to relate closely to patients working towards improving their health, function and quality of life.
